After a tense battle didn’t go their way in Huntsville on Friday, Lee’s men’s basketball team could have sulked. They could have packed it in and complained about the loss. But that’s not who they are.

The Lee University men’s golf team won their first Gulf South championship in program history. They opened up a seven-shot lead after one round. The next two were no different. The Flames increased their lead until the final hole, and won the conference tournament by 18 strokes. With their victory, they also received an automatic bid to the NCAA South Region Championships in May.
Jonathan Murray, a junior cinema major, works for the Athletic Communications department staying behind the scenes, generating videography for Lee athletics’ social media accounts, chapels, and special ceremonies. He was first hired as a student worker in the first week of school his freshman year. When he began at 18 he said he was “happy to get started” at Lee with a hands-on job.
Reily Rogers, the Athletic Communications Coordinator, graduated from Lee in 2021 and began working full-time for Lee University Athletics in July 2021. Her job entails taking photos of the various Lee sports teams and managing Lee University’s main sports Instagram page. At the end of this semester, Rogers will officially be leaving Lee.
After serving as the head volleyball coach for 30 years and being the Associate Athletic Director and Senior Women’s Administrator, Andrea Hudson finally says goodbye to Lee University.
Reyna Whitaker, junior history education major and Cleveland native, loves to hike, play board games, go antiquing and, as of 2020, compete with Lee University’s women’s rugby team.
One year ago, eight Lee Flames baseball players chose to return for the 2021-2022 season to use their free year of eligibility due to COVID-19.
In March, National Collegiate Rugby released the names of the Women’s All American award winners for the Fall 2021 season and recognized Lee players Siena Macy and Braeden List.
Black student athletes have continually made Athletic Department history at Lee, and as the campus becomes more and more diverse, more milestones are being established.
The Flames basketball team is currently 18-8 overall and 14-6 in the conference, making them the third seed and set to host the quarterfinal round of the GSC championship. They will play against the University of West Florida on March 1 at 8 p.m. in Paul Dana Walker Arena.
Lee University's Christian Noble set two NCAA Division II records Sunday afternoon at the 2022 Boston University Last Chance Meet. The Flames also met the NCAA DII provisional mark in three other events.
Coach Patrick Hynes, Australian native and head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis team has an overall record of 137-107 at Lee. Despite coaching and playing so many games he says tennis wasn’t his first “love,” but it has been his longest. He started playing at the age of six and hasn’t looked back since.
The Lee University Track and Field teams are off to a strong start this season. On Feb. 15, the first day of the Gulf South Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, both teams won events and broke records.
On Wednesday, Feb, 9, Dariana Blanton broke the record for career goals and the Lee Women's Lacrosse team earned a 19-8 win over Tusculum University in their season opener.
