Three things for November 1
1. Lee celebrates Homecoming weekend
Homecoming check-in starts today, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Great Room of the Science and Math Complex (SMC). The check-in will continue on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Several events are scheduled for students and alumni to enjoy. Lee’s musical groups will perform on Saturday, giving special tribute to the 30th reunion of Lee’s Symphonic Band. Other events include a block party, basketball game, tailgate party and department breakfasts.
2. House votes on the rules for impeachment inquiry
With a 232-196 vote, The House has approved the resolution on impeachment inquiry of President Trump.
The resolution lays out the rules for the impeachment investigation, paving the way for the committees to seek public hearings evolving from the closed door investigations, according to AP news.
Two democrats voted against the resolution — Rep. Peterson of Minnesota and Rep. Van Drew of New Jersey. Independant Justin Amash of Michigan sided with the Democrats.
In response to the passed resolution, The White House released a statement saying, “The President has done nothing wrong, and the Democrats know it. Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats’ unhinged obsession with this illegitimate impeachment proceeding does not hurt President Trump; it hurts the American people.”
3. Daylight savings time ending Sunday
Daylight savings time ends this Sunday at 2 a.m. It’s time to set the clocks and get an extra hour of sleep this weekend.
