1. Boeing CEO testifies for 737 Max plane crashes

A year after the Lion Air 737 Max crashed and killed 189 passengers, Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg testifies before congress. The 737 Max was a bestseller for Boeing, until the two crashes prompted a worldwide grounding.

“We know we made mistakes and got some things wrong,” Muilenburg said. “We own that, and we are fixing them.”

Boeing has even removed the head of the commercial airplane unit, who was responsible for creating the Max after being in the position for three years.

Muilenburg has also been removed from his position as chairman to solely focus on getting the Max back to service.

2. The Kincade Fire in California is now the biggest wildfire of 2019

The Kincade Fire located in Sonoma County has already destroyed over 75,000 acres and over 124 buildings and homes.

An evacuation has been ordered for over 200,000 people as winds are expected to pick up again.

Officials’ efforts to contain the wildfire are being put on hold due to the massive power outages across the county. Two firefighters have been injured attempting to put out the blaze. At this time no deaths have been reported.

3. The famous Minister Treehouse burns to the ground

A one-of-a-kind Tennessee hotspot otherwise known as the Ministers Treehouse was destroyed by a fire earlier this week.

The treehouse — located in Crossville, Tennessee — stood at nearly 100 feet tall and was constructed in the 1990’s by Horace Burgess.

The flames demolished the treehouse, burning it to the ground in just under 15 minutes. Officials have not yet determined what caused the fire and no injuries have been reported.
