Shop Got Her Covered thrift sale returns to Lee University
Lee University students will have the opportunity to shop for a good cause at this year’s Shop Got Her Covered thrift event, set to take place on Wednesday, April 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Great Room of the SMC. The event, which has been a long-standing tradition at Lee, allows students to purchase secondhand clothing for just $1 per item, with all proceeds going to the Got Her Covered initiative.
For months, donations have been collecting from students and faculty, filling bins with gently used apparel. However, donations are now closed as volunteers focus on preparing the items for the sale. The clothing will be sorted into categories such as pants, tops, dresses, and more—making it easy for shoppers to browse. While the event will begin with items organized by size, organizers acknowledge that things may shift throughout the night as attendees sift through the selections.

Supporting Women in Need
The Got Her Covered initiative is a non-profit effort that supports women and girls in Bradley County, specifically in Cleveland, Tennessee. The organization provides menstrual products to those who cannot afford them and also offers education on menstrual health and women’s health topics.
“All the proceeds from the sale will go directly to Got Her Covered to help provide essential period products to women who need them,” Adalyn Hovingh, the resident director of Cross Tharp said. “It’s a simple way for students to contribute to an important cause while also finding great thrifted pieces.”
Over the past seven years, Lee University’s Cross Tharp residence hall has maintained a partnership with Got Her Covered, ensuring the success of this annual fundraiser. The event has been passed down through multiple Resident Directors, keeping the tradition alive and making a tangible impact in the community.
Shopping Guidelines and Payment Options
Attendees should note that trying on clothes will not be permitted due to space limitations. However, with every item priced at just a dollar, students are encouraged to take a chance on their selections.
Both cash and Venmo payments will be accepted at checkout, making it easy for shoppers to contribute to the cause.
With a low price point, a worthy cause, and a wide variety of clothing options, the Shop Got Her Covered thrift event promises to be a fun and meaningful evening for the Lee University community. Whether students are looking to refresh their wardrobes or simply want to support an impactful charity, this event offers the perfect opportunity to do both.
