Convocation Preview: Encounter
On Sunday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m., President Mark Walker will kick off Lee University’s spring 2022 Convocation and introduce this year’s theme, “Encounter.”
"We feel strongly in this season of our culture, community and campus that creating opportunities to authentically encounter Jesus is a vital part of our growth and future,” said Campus Pastor Robert Fultz. “We are facing daily the challenges of COVID fatigue, change fatigue and spiritual fatigue. We are prayerful that this 'Encounter' Convocation will be catalytic in restoring health, healing and hope for our students, faculty and staff."
Dr. Mark Williams will speak on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Williams is currently serving as the lead pastor of North Cleveland Church of God. Before his pastoral ministry, Williams was the General Overseer of the Church of God.
Two speakers are planned for the services on Tuesday, Feb. 1, opening with author Emily Foreman at 10:45 a.m., and closing the evening with Samuel R. Chand, at 7:30 p.m. Foreman is an author, mother and missionary. Foreman’s book, “We Died Before We Came Here,” covers her family’s experience as missionaries and the impact of her husband’s death at the hands of Al-Qaeda. Chand pioneered the Sam Chand Leadership Institute which consults organizations on leadership innovation. Chand is a former pastor, college president and chancellor. Chand now serves as the President Emeritus of Beulah Heights University.
Pastor Mo Huggins will wrap up the convocation series on Feb. 2 at 7:30 pm. Huggins serves as the lead pastor at Mountain West Church and leads outreach to the suburbs of Atlanta. Huggins is in the process of completing a Doctor of Ministry in biblical preaching, has a master’s degree in homiletics and an undergrad degree in pastoral leadership.
"We have got an incredible lineup of speakers, and they are going to open and unpack the Word of God,” said assistant director of Campus Ministries, Fijoy Johnson. “God is doing something so special as He raises a generation of hungry, driven and passionate Jesus followers at Lee. I am looking forward to how the Lord will work in the hearts of His people."
