Three things for March 31

1. Companies design logos to promote social distancing

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, several companies have changed their logos to promote social distancing.

John Hopkins Medicine defines social distancing as allowing six feet between individuals in order to decrease the chances of spreading the coronavirus.

Coca-Cola released its new social distancing logo with the phrase, “Staying apart is the best way to stay united,” underneath the letters of the logo. Other companies that have released new logos include McDonald’s, Volkswagen and Audi.

2. Van Gogh painting stolen from Dutch museum

Early Monday morning, a painting by Vincent van Gogh was stolen from the Singer Laren Museum in Laren, Netherlands. The piece is called “Spring Garden.”

Singer Laren Museum Director Jan Rudolph de Lorm said in a statement, “I’m shocked and unbelievably annoyed that this has happened… it is terrible for us all because art exists to be seen and shared by us, the community, to enjoy to draw inspiration from and to draw comfort from, especially in these difficult times.”

On March 12, the museum temporarily closed its doors to comply with the Dutch government's efforts to decrease the spread of the virus. Police are currently investigating the theft.

3. John Krasinski launches YouTube channel to spread good news

The news show dedicated entirely to good news.

On Sunday, John Krasinski launched a new show called “Some Good News” on YouTube.

Throughout the show, Krasinski highlighted several instances of people coming together in the uncertainty of a pandemic.

Additionally, Krasinski brought his former “The Office” co-star Steve Carrell on the show via video to reminisce on the show’s 15 year anniversary.

When the topic of a cast reunion came up, Krasinski said, “Hopefully one day we just get to reunite as people and just all get to say, ‘hi.’"

As Krasniski ended his show, he said, “I’m John Krasinski, and this is SGN, asking you to remember, no matter how tough life can get, there's always good in the world, and we will see you next time. Good night.”
