Three things for February 24

1. Bernie Sanders becomes the Democratic frontrunner

Sen. Bernie Sanders won Nevada on Saturday after victories in the Iowa and New Hampshire caucuses. Sanders made history as the only candidate from either party to secure popular votes in three consecutive states’ primaries.

Mayor Pete Buttigeg won more delegates than Sanders in the Iowa caucuses, but Sanders’ victory in Nevada made him the frontrunner in the race with a total of 31 delegates.

"In Nevada, we have just put together a multigenerational, multiracial coalition, which is going to not only win in Nevada, it's going to sweep this country," Sanders said at a rally in San Antonio, Texas.

2. South Korea declares high alert after coronavirus outbreak

South Korea has confirmed 763 cases of coronavirus in addition to seven fatalities. President Moon Jae-in announced the highest alert for the country on Sunday, following a viral outbreak of the disease.

According to AP News, the alert will help authorities monitor the operation of schools and transportation to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. South Korea’s fourth-largest city, Daegu, and its surrounding region has the highest number of reported cases in the country.

3. Latte in the Library to welcome Dr. Mark Walker
