Harrold, Felix Named Honorable Mention All-Americans
Senior Haverly Harrold and sophomore Emily Felix were named Honorable Mention All-Americans as the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced the 2019-20 WGCA All-American Teams for Division II Women’s Collegiate Golf on Tuesday.
Harrold and Felix join Caroline Moore (2017) as the only players to receive the distinguished honor for the Lady Flames since joining the NCAA in 2015.
“I’m excited for both Emily and Haverly. They had strong seasons for our team, and this was a goal for both of them to start the season,” said John Maupin, head golf coach at Lee. “This is a nice finishing touch on Haverly’s career here. It’s one of the few things she hadn’t accomplished yet. She’s had an amazing career — has set many records — and now gets to add All-American to the list. I truly couldn’t be happier for her.”
Harrold posted a 74.73 scoring average this season, which ranked her 34th among all D2 women’s players. Felix recorded a 75.59 scoring average ranking her 41st in the nation.
“Emily is just getting started and has a bright future ahead. This is something she can certainly build on,” said Maupin. “Following a good freshman season, Emily came back this year and showed great commitment to practice, and I think that’s what is paying off the most. She played her best in some of our biggest tournaments. If she keeps that up, I’m excited to see her keep working her way up this list.”
Led by Harrold and Felix, the Lady Flames finished the truncated 2019-2020 season as the No. 11 team in the country.
“I think it’s a nice honor for our program as well, to be one of only a handful of teams to have multiple All-Americans,” concluded Maupin.
