Burnette named to DII Ping All-Regional Team
Lee golf freshman sensation Beck Burnette has landed a spot on the stacked Division II PING All-South Region team. Burnette is among a group of players across eight regions who earned all-region honors for 2020.
Burnette was having one of the best freshman campaigns in the storied history of the Lee golf program when the season was cut short due to the spread of COVID-19. Through six tournaments this season, Burnette posted a 70.69 scoring average over 16 rounds and led the Flames to a No. 9 national ranking. He finished in the top 11 in all six events.
“The South All-Region team is as deep as it gets. Making that team means you are not only one of the best players in the region but also in the entire country,” said John Maupin, head golf coach at Lee. “Beck had an outstanding season; it’s quite impressive to see a freshman make this team.”
