Three things for September 9

Three things for September 9

1. Men’s soccer faces Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday

LeeU Men’s soccer will face up against Lincoln Memorial this Tuesday at 7 p.m. As an added bonus, gateway classes who attend will compete in the Gateway Challenge, in which the class with the highest attendance wins a pizza and bowling party.

The challenge will continue over the next few weeks, giving Flames fans a chance to support the fall athletic teams as they begin the season.

2. Cargo ship overturns by port in Georgia

A cargo ship near a port on the Georgia coast overturned on Sunday morning, leaving the U.S. Coast Guard looking for four crew members.

The ship caught fire, and 20 crew members were able to safely evacuate. But due to a fire that began within the ship, emergency personnel were not able to go further inside.

The search is set to continue once it is determined that the ship is stable and the fire is put out. The Atlantic Strike Team was sent to the scene Sunday afternoon to assess the situation.

3. Global Perspectives trips reopen for the 2019-2020 school year

New and returning Global Perspectives trips have opened for the school year. Popular trips such as the England/Scotland trip and Italy spring break trip have returned. New trips, such as the Peru Missions trip and Uruguay/Argentina business trip are also featured.

The Global Perspectives Council met last week to discuss trips, and applications will begin to open and close over the next few months. For more information, visit: globalperspectives.leeuniversity.edu.
