Volleyball celebrates with 17-14 winning season

ROME, Ga. – For the first time since 2018, the Lee University volleyball team will celebrate a winning season (17-14) and even its GSC record at 8-8 with a convincing 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-20) victory over host Shorter University on Saturday evening.

Coach Christa Fabre is in her first year of directing the Lady Flames and with the University of Alabama in Huntsville defeating the University of West Georgia, her team claimed seventh place as they move into conference tournament play next Tuesday.  The Lady Flames will take on #6 seed Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.

With Sophia Lippert and Carmen Perez leading the way, the Lady Flames wasted no time in claiming the first set and moving onto the three-set win. Coach Christa Fabre’s thoughts:

“It was great to come in and take care of business against a team with nothing to lose. It was their senior night and last match, so they had great energy. We sided out well and served aggressively to keep them out of system.

“Now we get ready to prepare for Tuesday and we are excited to see how far we can take this season.”
