Meal swipe deals on campus, what to expect this semester and how students can offer input

Lee University Dining is continuing to offer meal swipe deals at retail dining locations on campus as a way for students to grab a bite to eat while saving money.

A meal swipe is worth $4.05 and is renewable every hour. These deals offer a small meal or snack for one meal swipe. Chick-fil-a and Dunkin’ are two locations on campus currently offering these deals.

At Chick-fil-a, students can take advantage of a meal swipe deal during breakfast.

“The meal swipe deal is between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. It consists of either a chicken biscuit or a sausage biscuit and a hash brown,” said Shelia Greene, the supervisor of Chick-fil-a. According to Greene, over 100 students choose to partake in this deal daily.

Dunkin’ offers a tasty treat throughout the entire day. Their current meal swipe deal includes a small iced coffee with two donuts.

“A lot of people like taking advantage of it because you can get something to eat and something to drink,” said Marissa Powell, a student worker at Dunkin’.

Students do not have to be on a meal plan to take advantage of these deals offered.  According to Leah Dunn, one of the retail managers for Lee Dining, flex and burgundy bucks are acceptable ways for students to make use of these deals as well. For instance, a student can go to Dunkin’ and get an iced coffee with two donuts for a meal swipe, or they can get it for $4.05 of their burgundy bucks or flex dollars.

While Chick-fil-a and Dunkin’ are the only locations that currently have meal swipe deals, other retail locations are hoping to be adding deals in the future.

“We are trying to put our heads together to try to find out what deals we can provide,” said Dunn. Lee Dining is open to student suggestions regarding meal swipe deals, as long as they are reasonable.
