Celebration of life for Choong

Rebecca “Becca” Gunter Choong, a senior psychology major at Lee University, passed away on October 11, 2024. Becca, age 24, was set to graduate in December with her bachelor’s degree.

Raised in Chattanooga, Becca graduated from Chattanooga Christian School. She was the youngest of seven siblings. Although she grew up in a large family, that never stopped Becca from carrying a bright smile, infectious laugh, sincerity and love for others.

She was a deep and intuitive thinker who “explored the world through her love of psychology, culture, the arts, nature, and live music.” Becca stood up against injustice and fought for human rights. She will be remembered most for those things.

Becca married Lee alum Xue Kai “Ben” Choong in 2022.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, seven siblings and thirteen nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Chattanooga. A visitation hour will also take place on Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will last from 12 p.m. until the service begins

For those unable to attend in person, the service will also be live-streamed.
