Worthy Now hosts Stand with your Sister: A Night of Prayer
Lee University prepares to host Worthy Now women’s gathering, a time of worship and bonding with the women of Lee, focusing this year’s meeting on the idea of “Standing with your sister.”
The “Stand with your Sister” event will focus on intentional time with women who truly make this campus great. The service will start with worship and and a brief message, then will break out into small groups to further bonds among the women at Lee.
“Whether it might be talking about work, might be talking about belonging, body image, insecurities, things of that nature, we're wanting to create a space where we can pray and study with each other in various areas of our live,” said Ghalysa Swann, doctoral intern and staff counselor.
This event is open to all women at Lee and can be seen as a time to “Stand with your sister” and grow spiritually together.
“We want the girls to know they're not alone, like every females struggles with a lot of the same issues. And this doesn't just stop in certain generations, like throughout generations. So no matter what age you are, we have our different struggles,” said Stacy York, staff coordinator of Worthy Now.
This night of prayer is catered toward Lee students and meant to join together the female student body as each daughter in Christ goes through their own difficulties that through the power of prayer, they can defeat together.
“Our hope is that they would learn to seek the Lord in their struggles and rely on prayer and learn the importance of prayer for each other,” said York.
As “Stand with Your Sister” is a Lee Univeristy event, it’s important that Lee’s campus provide each female student and faculty member with a sense of belonging.
“From my experience, Lee does an excellent job of incorporating both men and women equally across campus. Worthy Now uses women in ministry throughout their whole night: women speak the word, lead worship, and provide support for others. Overall, Worthy Now sets an outstanding standard for the rest of campus to follow,” said Alyssia Prater, youth and family minsity major.
Last semester, another Worthy Now event was held for women across campus that impacted the lives of many.
“They created a beautiful and seamless flow of service, from the main speaker to the breakout groups,” said Prater recalling a previous Worthy Now experience. “In these breakout groups, we got to choose which topic we felt most led to dive deeper into that night. This was so amazing because each woman had the opportunity to have a personal, spiritual filling.”
This event is non ticketed and is open to all Lee Unviersity students who can hope to experience a night of genuine, spirt-filled sisterhood.
The Worthy Now conference will take place on Feb. 16, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in the stone chapel with a reception following the service with refreshments.
