Three Things for February 27
1. ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ dominates SAG Awards
The 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards took place in the Fairmont Century Plaza last night where actors from critically acclaimed television shows and films gather to celebrate achievements for the 2022-2023 year.
The awards that are presented to each actor, actress or media presentation are voted on by the actors themselves.
Everything Everywhere All at Once, a recent new film that follows a middle-aged Chinese immigrant who finds out she alone can save the universe, picked up several of the major awards such as “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture” and “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role” received by main actress Michelle Yeoh.
Some of the other award winners included:
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role: Brendan Fraser, The Whale
Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series: The White Lotus
Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture: Top Gun: Maverick
Netflix served as the main streaming platform for the show at 8 p.m. Sunday night, and is set to be able to stream the show live from within the program in 2024.

2. Tommy Fury hands Jake Paul first loss with split-decision win
Tommy Fury, the half-brother of Tyson Fury, has ended the winning streak of YouTube-star-turned-fighter Jake Paul last night in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
"Tonight, I make my own legacy," Fury said. "I am Tommy Fury."
Throughout the fight, Fury led with cleaner and well practiced shots on Paul making it seem like the fight was going to be easily be given to Fury in the end, however, Paul came back in the eighth and final round with a knockdown on Fury. Paul has already disputed the results on the fight, and accredited his loss to a health issue during his training camp as well as an arm injury.
"I've already won in life," Paul said. "I've won in every single way. I have an amazing family, amazing friends, amazing work ethic. I made it farther than I ever thought I would and beyond. This is a humbling experience. I'll take it on the chin and come back."

3. 'I really messed up': Florida executes death row inmate for first time in nearly four years
Florida executed 59 year old Donald Dillbeck on Thursday, Feb. 23, by lethal injection. Dillbeck was serving a life sentence years for a carjacking turned homicide situation in 1979 when he fatally stabbed 44 year old Faye Lamb Vann and then shooting 39 year old Deputy Dwight Lynn Hall when the officer tried to apprehend him while he was on the run. Dillbeck was 15 at the time.
The US Supreme Court declined the request presented by Dillbeck’s attorney to stop his execution. His death marks the 100th execution within the US since the Supreme Court had reinstated the penalty in 1976.
