Three Things for September 23

1. Rescuers save 32 pilot whales near Tasmania

On Thursday, Sept. 22, rescuers saved 32 whales on the western coast of Tasmania, an Australian state, and released them back into the ocean.

Of the 230 whales stranded, half were presumed alive on Wednesday, Sept. 21, but only 35 survived the overnight surf and only 32 were rescued.

Two years ago, on Sept. 21, 2020, the largest mass stranding in Australian history was recorded, occurring in the same harbor nicknamed Hell’s Gate.

2. Brad Pitt releases “Le Domaine,” a skincare line

Brad Pitt launched his co-owned skincare line focused on “green beauty” out of his winery, Chateau Miraval. The products are vegan and cruelty free, and the packaging is refillable.

The skincare portion boosts two completely new ingredients, GSM10 and ProGR3, to help nourish the skin and target signs of aging.

“I don’t want to be running from aging. It’s a concept we can’t escape, and I would like to see our culture embracing it a bit more, talking about it in those terms,” Pitt told Vogue Magazine.
