Photo Essay: Tap Night taps back
On Thursday night, Lee University’s Greek community came together for their first semi-normal Tap Night since the beginning of COVID-19. Each club welcomed new members into a family of shared letters and traditions. The normalcy of nerves, new Taps and a growing community became possible for Greek life once again. The fall of 2021 will be remembered as the night of a community comeback for Lee University.
“It’s going to change your life. This process is crazy, and it can be difficult, but there is a lot of joy in it. Be expectant. [Chi] really changed my life, and I am grateful for it,” said senior discipleship ministry major Chad Parks.
“I am excited just to be able to show them who [Sigma] is and the things we stand for. To bring them into community that they haven’t experienced anywhere else,” said senior graphic design major Audrey Pots. “We are ready to love on these girls.”
“My big and I always had a great relationship, and I am excited to share that with my little. I was so excited when I heard her name. She had so much great energy during the [Omega] interview process,” said junior history education major Karli Keel.
“I hope they experience what [Upsilon] is fully about and fully buy in and get it,” said Riley Shaw, sponsor of Upsilon. “[Upsilon] is in a good standing place, and we have made a lot of spiritual advances. I am honored to be a part of the process.”
“We are not taking a new tap this semester, but we are excited to socialize with other clubs and welcome new girls next semester,” said Liz Simpson, President of Phi Chi Gamma.
“Tap Night is just a fun night to honor the new tap and give them a glimpse of DZT sisterhood. Also, to spend time with other girls of the club [and] to really get to know who DZT is. We are always excited to welcome new girls into the club,” said Laura Giden, Tap 79 of Delta Zeta Tau.
