Three things for November 3
1. Election Day results could be stalled
Today is Election Day. According to AP News, more than 100 million Americans have already voted — either through mail-in ballots or in-person early voting.
Election officials believe the results of the election may be delayed due to millions of Americans opting to mail in their ballots.
Once received, election workers will sort and flatten the mail-in ballots before they can be counted, meaning the votes will take longer to tabulate.
Today is the last day to vote in the 2020 presidential election. Check your state’s local government website to find a polling location in your area.

2. Europe tightens restrictions as COVID-19 numbers surge
As COVID-19 cases surge in Europe, many countries are considering a partial shutdown over the coming weeks.
Germany, Britain, Austria, Greece and Kosova are among the countries implementing new measures to ensure the health and safety of the public.
Other countries like Belgium, France, Poland and the Czech Republic have begun shutdowns to varying degrees.
According to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care has doubled in the past 10 days.
Europe has seen roughly 270,000 confirmed virus-related deaths.
3. Gateway class fundraises by promising to ‘pie’ university officials
As freshman gateway classes near the end of the semester, Operation Christmas Child service projects are approaching.
Dr. Randy Wood’s Gateway class, in collaboration with Vice President for Enrollment Phil Cook’s gateway class, is fundraising for Operation Christmas Child by promising to ‘pie’ a Lee University official in the face. Students can donate $1 to cast a vote for President Mark Walker, Phil Cook or Dean of Students Alan McClung.
Once announced, the class will broadcast the event over social media.
Donations can be sent through Venmo, CashApp or in person on the pedmall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 3.
