2. Nevada reports first case of COVID-19 reinfection in US
According to NBC News, Nevada researchers announced that a 25-year-old resident tested positive for the virus in mid-April and became sick again in late May.
The reinfection happened over a month after their recovery, and researchers are saying the patient was “infected with a slightly different strain” the second time around.
Dr. Ashish Jha, Director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, said research suggests someone who recovers from COVID-19 is protected from reinfection for an unknown period of time.
“The evidence so far suggests that if you've been infected and recovered, then you're protected for some period of time,” Jha said. “We don't know how long, and we're going to find individual cases of people for whom that's not true.”
3. Man dressed as Batman brings food to homeless in Santiago
An anonymous man dressed as DC superhero Batman is delivering hot meals to homeless people across Santiago, Chile.
The man, who stocks his SUV full of meals, told Reuters that he decided to wear the costume to bring happiness and unity to the city.
“Look around you, see if you can dedicate a little time, a little food, a little shelter, a word sometimes of encouragement to those who need it,” he said.
The nameless hero has been distributing meals to Santiago’s homeless population regularly.
