Opinion: Can Tom Brady save the Bucs?
Tom Brady, arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, became a free agent on March 18 at 4 p.m. After a stunning announcement that he wouldn’t return to the New England Patriots — his home team for 20 years — he revealed he had signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers signed Brady to a two-year deal worth $50 million guaranteed in free agency. The deal also includes $9 million in incentives. Brady’s arrival likely means a move for Jameis Winston, the former starting quarterback of the Buccaneers.
Brady spent the last 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, going to nine super bowls and winning six. Brady is now 42 years old, making him the oldest quarterback in the NFL. Many are contemplating if his time as an elite quarterback is up.
Some may be confused as to why Brady would leave the Patriots. It’s an easy answer — he’s 42, and his career is coming to a close. He might as well leave the Patriots organization and see if he can win somewhere else on his own.
The veteran quarterback is heading to a team that doesn’t win often. Can the 42-year-old Brady help the Buccaneers start winning? I certainly believe it’s a good move for the Bucs, and Brady can help Tampa Bay start winning some football games.
As a football fan, I love to see the underdog teams win games. If I had to choose one player to help my team win, it would be Tom Brady. This could be the foundation of another football dynasty. I’m excited to see this upcoming season and watch how it plays out.
