Montgomery, Hendricks bring home GSC weekly awards

After leading the Lee men's basketball team to their ninth and 10th straight victories last week, senior forward Ryan Montgomery was named GSC Player of the Week for the second straight week. Freshman guard Beyuan Hicks was also awarded a GSC honor, earning Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
Montgomery was instrumental in the team’s road win at West Georgia and home victory over 13 ranked Alabama Huntsville this weekend. The senior forward scored 29 points as Lee defeated the Chargers 65-60 on Saturday afternoon in Walker Arena.
Hendricks scored a career-high 18 points on six of eight shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds against the Wolves last Thursday. The freshman guard followed that up with nine points, seven rebounds and four assists on Saturday against the Chargers.
"Individual recognition for Ryan and Beyuan this week is a product of our team's success," said Lee head coach Bubba Smith. "At this time of the year, you have to continue to find ways to improve. This group continues to do that, and it shows in our team's performance."
Next up for the Flames is a road trip to Montevallo and West Alabama next week. Lee visits the GSC-leading Falcons on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. before traveling to the Tigers on Saturday at 5 p.m.
