Cross Country Programs Ranked in Top 5 of DII Coaches Poll
DIVISION II CROSS COUNTRY COACHES’ POLL
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In the inaugural NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country National and conference polls, both Lee University programs are listed in the top 5. The polls are conducted by a committee consisting of head coaches that volunteered to represent their conference. Division II conferences with teams competing in 2020 are the LSC, RMAC, MIAA, PBC, GSC, GMAC and GVLC.
The Flames earned 68 points to land at No. 4 in the poll. Western Colorado garnered six first place votes and sit atop the poll with 90 points. Alabama Huntsville (77) is second and Augusta (70) is third.
The Lee men are ranked second in the conference poll with UAH at No. 1. Mississippi College is third with Montevallo sitting in fourth. Valdosta State and West Alabama round out the top six.
On the women's side, the Lady Flames collected 55 points to settle into fifth. Western Colorado (73) used three first place votes to edge Hillsdale (69), who recorded two first place votes, for the top position. Cedarville's 58 points put them in third with Dallas Baptist right behind with 56 points.
The Lady Flames are the top team in the conference poll. Mississippi College is second with Montevallo in third. UAH follows at No. 4, Union University is fifth and West Georgia completed the six-team list.
Each Monday the conference representative submits a ranking of the top six men's and top six women's teams in their conference. A team cannot be ranked in their conference or nationally until they have competed this season.
Each Tuesday the conference representative submits a national ranking of every team (from the conference rankings) in order from 1-15 for the men's and women's teams.
