1. Chick-fil-A ends donations to groups critical of the LGBTQ community
Chick-fil-A announced on Monday that it will no longer be making donations to two controversial Christian charities who have opposed same sex marriage. The chain’s foundation had made donations worth millions of dollars to The Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, according to the CNBC report.
LGBTQ activists have previously targeted multiple Chick-fil-A locations around the country to protest the chain’s homophobic stance. The company faced criticism in the past after its CEO Dan Cathy made public comments opposing gay marriage in 2012.
2. Three dead in Walmart shooting in Duncan, Oklahoma
Three people were shot dead outside Walmart in Duncan, Okhlahoma on Monday morning. A man and a woman were found dead in the front seat of a car in the parking lot and another man deceased outside the car, according to the Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford on USA Today.
The motive for the shooting is still unidentified. Authorities have found out that the victims were related to each other but they have declined to describe their relationships. Duncan resident Aaron Helton, an Army veteran, was an eyewitness to the incident and the police are investigating on Helton’s “version of events.”
3. Trivia night in the PCSU
Trivia Night is happening this Friday, Nov. 22 from 7 p.m. in the PSCU. The night will feature trivia and a popcorn bar for students.
Students can participate with a team of up to 8 people, but individuals can also participate in the event.
