Lee Day Weekend 2019 starts today, bringing crowds of prospective students and their loved ones onto campus for a weekend-long event.

Here’s a quick breakdown of everything that you need to know about the goings-on for the next three days of on-campus events.

Friday:

Check-in for prospective students begins today at 9 a.m. and stays open until 6 p.m. Campus tours conveniently begin at the same time at the fountain outside the Higginbotham Administration Building, but will end earlier at 4 p.m.

During this time, prospective students will tour various classes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the full list of classes listed on Lee’s official Lee day page.

Lunch on Friday begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m., with academic displays featuring professors and students of various departments starting at the same time and ending at 3:30 p.m.

Student Success Initiatives (The Hub) will host a parent information session in the Helen DeVos College of Education Room 125 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

A music showcase event is slated to occur from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., with the Lee Singers and the Percussion Ensemble performing at Pangle Hall, while the Brass Choir and Evangelistic Singers (EVS) will perform simultaneously at the Chapel.

Starting at 5 p.m. in the Conn Center, Vice President for Enrollment Phil Cook will host an event called LeeU Spotlight, which will feature musical performances, showcase stories from students and alumni, and highlight athletic programs until 6:15 p.m.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. there will be a showing of Lee Theatre's production of “Meet Me in St. Louis” in the Dixon Center. Tickets for the event will be free but must be reserved beforehand.

A special U-Church will begin at the same time, featuring magician Justin Flom as the opening act and a concert featuring worship band The Belonging Co.

Friday’s final scheduled event will be the Block Party, starting at 9:30 p.m., after the conclusion of the night’s U-Church service.

Saturday:

Saturday’s Lee Day events begin at 7 a.m., with registration and campus tours lasting until 11:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.

Academic displays will occur again on Saturday, lasting from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Walker Arena lobby, an event titled “Fired Up!” is set to occur, where prospective students can stop by and talk to athletic coaches until 11:30 a.m.

Student clubs and organization displays will also begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Pedestrian Mall, where prospective students can visit booths set up by various student groups and talk to their current members.

From 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. there will be a “Teen Talent Workshop” event, where prospective students may perform in front of an audience of Lee’s music faculty.

Later, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., School of Music auditions will occur. Auditions are done by appointment only, which can be made by calling (423) 614-8240.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Dixon Center, President Paul Conn will host a “Parents Lunch & Learn” event featuring Financial Aid staff and other school leaders, where parents can get to know more about Lee and its faculty while engaging in a Q&A session. As the event’s name implies, lunch will be provided to attending parents.

Several different luncheon events will begin at noon on Saturday, such as the Transfer Student Luncheon in the Admin Building’s Centenary Room.

There will be four separate luncheons for high schoolers based upon their grade level, all of which begin at noon—freshmen and sophomores will meet in the Communication Arts Building, juniors will meet in the DeVos Recreation Center, and seniors will meet in the Walker Arena.

Additionally, an alumni luncheon will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel’s John Nichols Room.

At 1 p.m., there will be a Lady Flames Lacrosse game at the Soccer Field, and the first game of the Lady Flames Softball Double Header and Alumni Day at Butler Field, the second game of which begins at 3:30 p.m.

The new Olympic Field Stadium will be dedicated on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., immediately followed by the first game of a Lee Flames Baseball Double Header, the second game of which begins at 5 p.m.

At 3 p.m., an event titled “Life at Lee” will begin in the Conn Center, featuring a “lighthearted look at campus life”, according to Lee’s official website.

The event will conclude at 4 p.m., as the Barbecue Cookout event begins in Alumni Park.

The Conn Center will feature another event beginning at 5 p.m., a “Worship Rally” featuring Conn, LeeU Worship, and the Voices of Lee, which will last until 6 p.m., when 8 scholarship drawings will be drawn for those who are present at the event.

Sunday:

Lee Day Weekend will officially conclude on Sunday at 10 a.m. with a morning worship service in the Chapel, featuring music and testimonials from Lee students and faculty.
