SPORTS BRIEF: Flames lose nail-biter to Tusculum

The men's soccer team competed against their in-state rival Tusculum College this Wednesday, Oct. 24.
The Flames dominated the first half and seemed to be outworking the Pioneers in all aspects of the game. They went into the half up 1-0.
The second half dropped off in production, as the Flames never could get the second goal to put the game out of reach.
Instead, the Pioneers crept back into the game and, with less than a minute remaining, went ahead 2-1.
It came down to who wanted it more in the very end, and Coach Derek Potteiger said the Flames' early lead left them with their guard down.
“I thought we played a good first half, and then we came out in the second half and laid an egg,” Potteiger said. “We just have a sense of complacency that creeps in, and that is what happened in the second half.”
As the postseason quickly approaches, it's important the Flames move forward playing a full 90 minutes, and move on from here.
The men's team plays again at the Gulf South Conference Championship on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
