Here's what to expect for this semester's Lee Day
As the spring time approaches, Lee University’s campus begins to prepare for the highly anticipated Lee Day weekend.
Starting on April 6, Lee Day guests will have the opportunity to tour the campus and attend events hosted by various departments.
Prospective students can sit in on classes, tour residence halls and visit an academic showcase hosted by faculty members from each department. Newly accepted students can meet with their fall 2018 academic advisor to schedule classes.
Along with academic assistance, guests can attend several fun events throughout the weekend.
On Friday afternoon, LeeU Spotlight, a Lee Day favorite, will be hosted to display the best of Lee music, videos, alumni and athletics. Guests can also catch “Music in the Air,” featuring performances from a variety of Lee’s ensembles.
Also on Friday, Lee Theatre will hold a program information session. Afterwards, they'll present “Cyrano,” a play director Dan Buck said features “sword fighting, love and comedy.”
“Students who are interested in auditioning, working backstage or taking theatre classes of any kind will benefit from this quick introduction to Lee Theatre faculty and facilities,” Buck said. “We love meeting students who love theatre and those who are just a little curious.”
Friday will conclude with a block party which will feature music, games and food for all guests.
Opportunities to experience campus life will continue on Saturday, beginning with a showcase of various Lee University club and organization booths for students and family to walk by.
Guest can enjoy several sports games throughout the day, and prospective students hoping to join the athletics program can attend the “Meet the Coaches” event to speak with athletic faculty and coaches.
A Lee Day favorite, “Life at Lee,” will take place Saturday afternoon, providing guests an opportunity to witness Lee campus camaraderie. Following “Life at Lee,” there will be a cookout in Alumni Park for all to enjoy.
Saturday will also feature a luncheon for high school seniors, which will qualify them for a drawing of eight scholarships.
Lee Day will conclude Saturday afternoon with a worship rally featuring President Paul Conn, LeeU Worship and Voices of Lee. The scholarship drawing will take place following the worship rally.
Vice President for Enrollment Phil Cook said Lee Day offers a unique opportunity for both the university and prospective students.
“Lee Day is the largest recruitment event of the year, and we are excited to welcome hundreds of students and families to our campus,” Cook said. “For many years, Lee Day has been the primary reason students decide to enroll at Lee, and we expect this year to be no different.”
The weekend starts this year on Friday, April 6, and continues through Saturday, April 7.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 6, and 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 7.
