Famous Flame: Mia Hollingsworth
Hollingsworth had a key assist this weekend against the Shorter Hawks that lifted the Lady Flames to a victory by a score of 1-0 earlier this week.

With a remarkable record over the past three years as a Lady Flame, Mia Hollingsworth has proven herself to be an incredible asset when she steps on the field.
Her efforts this week, including a key assist to lift the Lady Flames over the Shorter Hawks earlier this week, earned this senior middle forward Athlete of the Week. Her assist to Lauren Peters gave the Lady Flames the 1-0 victory over the Shorter Hawks.
Hollingsworth said she knows her last season as a Flame means she has to leave everything she has on the field. Since the end of last season, Hollingsworth has set her sights on pro-level women’s soccer.
“At the end of last season I was really disappointed in myself and felt like I lost a year of soccer because I started letting it go,” said Hollingsworth. “I was wondering why I felt this way, and then the idea of playing after college entered my head.”
Others have seen this renewed determination and ambition. Lady Flames head coach Chris Hennessey said Hollingsworth's push for greatness transfers to leading her team with a purpose.
“Mia has approached the season with a real desire to be the best she can be—which is what we are seeing right now. As a teammate, she is very encouraging and leads the team on the field,” Hennessey said. “I think there is still more to come from Mia and am looking forward to watching her progress over the rest of the season.”
Hollingsworth said her busy college career is not stopping her from chasing down new goals she set herself for this season.
“Improvements would be to use my speed as much as I can and to its fullest potential and not restrain myself in that way,” Hollingsworth said. “I also want a resiliency I’ve never had, where I’m not okay with just one goal and just to continue on even when we are up.”
While she leaves her all on the field, Hollingsworth is also a Grade A student. She has maintained honor roll status in her time at Lee. At the level Hollingsworth is currently playing, she is a force to be reckoned with in the Gulf South Conference and potentially as a professional down the road.
