Shenanigans, Lee University's own improv team, had the packed Rose Lecture Hall at Lee University laughing from start to finish on the nights of Jan. 27 and 28.

The famous “FOUR, THREE, TWO, FUN!” countdown takes place before every improv game in a Shenanigans show, and the shows this past weekend were no exception.

People gathered to stand in the back of the hall after the seats filled up.

The price of a show is $1 at the door, and Lee students from all parts of campus were in attendance.

Since 2007, Shenanigans has been a favorite of Lee students, loyal attendees dubbed “Shenanifans.”

For others, this was their first Shenanigans experience.

“It was definitely not what I expected it to be, but that made it all the more awesome,” Molly Noonan, a junior at Lee, said.

The show, with help from the audience, is several completely spontaneous short sketches. The sketches include various improv games that can go in any direction.

One team member serves as host, choosing team members to act while explaining the improv game. The host also bridges the gap between actors and audience, calling upon the audience to provide suggestions.

For some games, actors would swap in and out, rapidly changing the story line. Still others would include explaining a story using only gibberish.

Sometimes literally, the actors threw themselves into different characters and scenes while the audience laughed at the quick-wittedness of the actors.

“I think the biggest thing is that I want them to have fun with us. We’re not here just to entertain; we want to make it interactive where they have fun with us in the entire process,” said senior Shenanigans member Clint Page.

Though the show is put on for the audience, it is obvious that the Shenanigans team is having a great time too.

For sophomore Shenanigans member Josh Alexander, Shenanigans is more like a family.

“It’s a group of people getting together doing something they love and doing it for the people they love. We take it very seriously. It is our art, it’s what we feel called to do,” Alexander said.
