Seven things the library offers students during exams
Let's face it: finals are coming and we're all getting stressed.
The nights are getting longer, yet, everywhere still seems to close at 10 p.m. However, fret not, Squires Library is at your service.
Kashif Graham, Squires Library evening supervisor, said the library provides special services to help students who are preparing for exams.
'Students are struggling with a lot of anxiety and depression, and we try to display a lot of hospitality,' Graham said.
Here's what we have to look forward to.
1. Extended hours
Squires Library will be open April 27-28, 8 a.m.-3 a.m., April 29, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., April 30, 12 p.m.-8 p.m., May 1, 1 p.m.-3 a.m. and May 2, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
2. Free Snacks
From a cereal bar to popcorn, they work hard to provide students with some things mid-studying to encourage them- doubt you could get that at iHop!
3. A Therapy Dog
Because if free food was not enough, they so kindly have decided to try and bring in a therapy dog to walk around and help soothe us stressed college students.
4. Prayer
Graham said the leaders are highly encouraged to try and get to know the students and pray with them during this time.
5. Comedic Announcements
The staff tries to lighten up the mood with fun announcements that help take you out of the stressed mindset you may be stuck in. And sometimes, it's just nice to laugh.
6. Write a Poem on a Typewriter
For the month of April, there are two typewriters in the library offering students the chance to write a poem for poetry month. They brought them in hopes students would enjoy the opportunity to write and share poetry in a fun, unique way.
7. Community
There's something about being surrounded by fellow students who are struggling alongside of you that is almost encouraging. Plus, if you don't know something, it's pretty likely someone in the building is going to know the answer.
No matter what exam you're studying for, take some time to check out the cool things Squires has planned for us during this time. Because exams suck, but with the help of some passionate, kind people, you won't be in them alone.
