Christian hip hop artist Lecrae has been announced as the featured performer at Lee's UChurch on April 9 as a part of his Higher Learning Tour.
The concert will be the finale of the university's annual Lee Day activities. Both current and prospective students will be treated to a free show.
Director of Facilities Management Joshua York--who regularly selects bands and artists for UChurch--expressed excitement about the opportunity.
"We chose Lecrae because he is one of the biggest acts in music today," York said. "He co-headlined 'Winter Jam,' the biggest tour in the country, beating major tours by Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Elton John."
York attributes the artist's notoriety to his commitment to Christ.
"He is a Grammy award winner who has received attention from Rolling Stone, Vibe, The New York Times, Billboard and more for the faith and honesty represented in his music," York said.
Because of Lecrae's growing fame, the free concert represents a significant booking for the school and the community.
"We knew that we had to do everything we could to take advantage of this rare opportunity," York said.
