Chattanooga date nights
The Freshman Dating Game may have come and gone, but your chances of scoring the perfect date night are far from over. Whether you're new to East Tennessee or a seasoned local, we've rounded up some of Chattanooga's best weekend activities to help make your special occasion one to remember. From first date destinations to the perfect girls night activity, you're bound to find a new favorite!
1. First Date
"The Classic"
Dinner and a movie may be the standard for a first date, but it's always good to think outside the box. Consider going to a Lookouts game, taking a ghost tour, or checking out the Comedy Catch, a comedy club and restaurant that is sure to knock your date off their feet. If you want to tone it down a notch, try a delicious dinner at Taco Mamacita's on the North Shore and grab gelato for dessert afterwards at Milk and Honey. For a daytime date try lunch at Good Dog, a restaurant that specializes in deliciously decked out hot dogs, and stop by Clumpies Ice Cream for a sweet dessert.
"The Adventure"
If you're feeling confident and outdoorsy, Chattanooga's still got plenty of opportunities for you to explore. You can rent paddle boards to take out onto the Tennessee River, test your rock climbing skills at The Block at High Point Climbing & Fitness on Broad Street, tour Ruby Falls or Rock City Gardens or even take a stroll through Tennessee's Aquarium located in the heart of down town Chattanooga.
2. Girls Night Out
Sometimes you've just got to take the day to play with your gal pals, and Chattanooga is full of shopping, eateries and attractions perfect for just that! Hamilton Place, located just off of Shallowford Road exit, has excellent shopping. However, a 15 minute drive further will take you into the heart of Chattanooga. Here you will find boutiques all along the North Shore like Merchant31, a clothing store perfect for any fashionista, or the Cosmetic Market on Warehouse Row.
After you've worked up a sweat carrying all of your shopping bags, sit down for a southern style dinner at Tupelo Honey or head on over to the Bluff View Art District where you can dine at Tony's Italian Restaurant and explore a gorgeous sculpture garden overlooking the Tennessee River. If you want to top off your meal with dessert or coffee, you have to check out Rembrandt's Coffee House. With a cozy atmosphere that's perfect for catching up, their selection of baked goods and house blends are sure to satisfy your taste buds. Bonus: very one of these locations provides picturesque scenery, perfect for your next Instagram post!
3. Sunday Fun-Day
Lazy Sunday afternoons are great, but you can't live in sweatpants forever. Spice up the end of your weekend with an afternoon with the Chattanooga Market at the First Tennessee Pavilion. Held every Sunday until November 23rd, the outdoor market has fresh produce, live music, and food trucks ready to dazzle you with their native specialties. Here you and your friends can have lunch, purchase veggies and fruit for your week's meals, and be entertained by local artists - the perfect way to rejuvenate before the school week begins.
