ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Emeli Sandé
Born under the name of Adele Emeli Sandé Gouraguine, this young lady has garnered much success in the U.K. and now the U.S. with her unique style of artistry. Sandé first rose to fame after collaborating with English rapper, Professor Green, on, “Read All About It,” that later shot up to number one on the U.K. Singles Chart.
After the success of that single she decided to release a solo album with the release of the first single, “Heaven.” In February of 2012, she released the album Our Version of Events, that soon became the biggest selling album of the year in the United Kingdom. She then went on to release her biggest selling single, “Next to Me.”
Not only did she co-write every song on her album, but she has also written songs for other artists like Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, and even Rihanna. Simon Cowell stated that she’s
his favorite songwriter at the minute.
Sandé’s songwriting skills come from a very vulnerable and real place that anyone can relate to.
Emeli Sandé’s music style is more acoustic soul. She never indulges in the European Dance trend that has taken over the mainstream industry. If you listen enjoy listening to Adele, Amy Winehouse or Leona Lewis, then Emeli Sandé is a great artist for you to check out.
