Homecoming Queen 2009
The crowd at the Nov. 7 men’s basketball game vs. Bluefield College (Va.) erupted into cheers at half time as senior Jill Singerman was crowned the 2009 Homecoming Queen.
Singerman is a public relations major with a minor in psychology. She is well known for her work with the Student Leadership Council, where she serves as chair. Singerman is also a member of the communication honors society, Lambda Phi Eta, and is a student worker for the Office of Student Development.
“Jill has such a good heart. She gives so much of herself, it is about time she got something back in return,” said sophomore representative Morgan Kerns who works closely with Singerman on the SLC cabinet.
Singerman was escorted by senior Blake Joiner.
“I was so surprised when they called my name that I started jumping up and down,” Singerman said. “I was so honored to be chosen, but all I could focus on was not tripping on my heels.”
Also representing the senior class were students Ann Claire Butler, Kelsey Glasser and Taylor Dockery.
Butler is a history major with a pre-law minor from Nashville, Tenn. Butler is not only a member of Sigma Nu Sigma, but also a little sister of Theta Delta Kappa. She represents Lee as a member of the women’s tennis team as well as the history honor society, Phi Alpha Theta. Butler was escorted by senior Kent Williams.
Glasser is a history major with minors in psychology and communications from Bismark, N.D. She is a member of Omega Alpha Phi, Kappa Lambda Iota and Phi Alpha Theta. She has also worked with A-Force. Glasser was escorted by senior Jordan Hicks.
Dockery is a communications and public relations major from Jasper, Tenn. She serves as president of Sigma Nu Sigma as well as little sister in Theta Delta Kappa. Dockery has worked as a travel guide for the Global Perspectives office. She is a member of Lambda Phi Eta as well as Alpha Chi honor society. Dockery was escorted by senior Brady Smith.
Singerman was crowned by fellow representatives of the Student Leadership Council, Emily Browning, Dr. Mike Hayes, Brie McDaniel and 2006 Homecoming Queen Rosie Holsinger.
