In an email this afternoon to the student body, Dr. Paul Conn announced he will be stepping down as President of Lee University in the summer of 2020.

“Over the past several months, my wife Darlia and I have really prayed intently about when I should hand the responsibilities of the presidency to the next person,” Conn said. “In the last few weeks, we've reached the conviction that the time has come, so my plan is to resign formally to the Board of Directors early next year.”

Looking forward to the next school year, Conn said Lee’s Board of Directors is currently searching for the next president.

“It is the Board's responsibility to choose my successor,” Conn said, “so I have asked them to begin that search process.”

Conn will not be leaving Lee, but instead will be transitioning to the position of Chancellor and will serve, “on the leadership team of the new president.”

“My plan is to stay until our Summer commencement, August 1, which would be my last day in office,” Conn said.

Conn is adament that despite his new transition, his love for students will remain the same.

“You guys truly matter most to me — the reason I took this job in the first place, more than 33 years ago, is that I love college students, and Lee University students in particular,” Conn said. “You are the reason I do this job, and enjoy doing it!”
