Popular Christian comedian John Crist has canceled his remaining tour dates due to recent allegations of sexual harassment and manipulation.

In an article published on Nov. 6 by Charisma Magazine, several women shared their troubling experiences with the comedian, stating Crist used his fame to manipulate and persuade them into inappropriate situations.

Within the article, multiple sources confirm Crist used his position and popularity to pressure women into instances of sexual misconduct for the past seven years.

Crist released a lengthy statement to Charisma regarding the allegations included in the article the magazine published.

"Over the past number of years, various women have accused me of behavior that has been hurtful to them,” said Crist. “While I am not guilty of everything I've been accused of, I confess to being guilty of this … I have treated relationships with women far too casually, in some cases even recklessly. My behavior has been destructive and sinful.”

Charisma Magazine’s sources confirm Crist has been in counseling for his behavior since 2014; however, the comedian is still facing allegations that include some of his recent actions.

Crist was also on track to release his own Netflix special called “I Ain't Praying for That” this Thanksgiving in addition to releasing his first book titled “Untag Me” this March. Both his Netflix special and book have been postponed for the time being.

Hannah Arnold, a junior psychology major and long-time fan of Crist, said she was shocked after hearing the recent allegations.

“It’s sad to see someone so highly admired in the public eye struggle with these types of things,” said Arnold. “However, it goes to show the world that everyone struggles and is worthy of forgiveness. I’m glad he has sought help and is taking responsibility for his actions. My prayers are with him.”

Crist stated he hopes to use this time in order to get healthier and move forward with his friends and family

“I’m committed to getting healing and freedom from my sin and have decided to cancel my remaining tour dates this year and to postpone all future commitments in order to devote all my time and energy on getting healthy spiritually, mentally and physically,” said Crist.

At this time, no legal charges have been set for any of the allegations made against Crist.
